July 5, 1962 marks an important day in the history of Algeria: it is the date on which the country obtained its independence. This day is marked every year in Algeria as a national holiday to commemorate the end of French colonization and the birth of a new sovereign, free and democratic state.
Today, as we celebrate this historic day,
it is important to pay tribute to the state and people of Algeria for their
courageous struggle and determination to achieve independence.
For more than a
century, Algeria was subjected to French domination which hampered its
economic, social and political development. But despite this, Algerians
continued to fight for their freedom and dignity, defying persecution, arrests,
violence and massacres.
On July 5, 1962, Algeria became a sovereign state, free to determine its own destiny. This victory was the result of the hard struggle and sacrifice of 1.5 million people who gave their lives for the cause of independence.
Since then, Algeria has experienced many challenges, but it has also made great strides. The country has worked hard to strengthen its economy, education and health system, and to promote peace and stability in the region.
As a nation, Algeria has also made
significant contributions to promoting the values of justice, freedom and
solidarity around the world. She was a leader in the struggle for the
emancipation of oppressed peoples and for the defense of human rights.
On this day of
celebration, we congratulate the Algerian State and people for their
resilience, their courage and determination to build a better future for their
country. We also honor the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for
the cause of independence and pledge to continue their struggle for freedom,
justice and human dignity. Long live independent Algeria!
